Elle Davis Leads Resilience-Building Session at Illinois Action for Children Summit
Cicero, IL – September 21, 2025 — Elle Davis, Founder of The Ellevate Group, LLC, led an interactive session titled Color Outside the Lines: Building Resilient Children Through Play, Imagination & Heart Work at Illinois Action for Children’s Provider Summit: Social and Emotional Development Through Imagination, Exploration, and Play, held September 20 at the Cicero Community Center.
The session drew 25 parents and childcare providers into a heart-centered experience designed to strengthen social-emotional development in young children. Through guided reflection, hands-on activities, and imaginative play, participants explored practical strategies to nurture resilience in children while also reconnecting with their own creativity. Using pages from Discover the World, a children’s coloring book designed by Davis and available on Amazon, the workshop created a space for both connection and renewal.
“Play and imagination are not just activities for children, they are powerful tools for building resilience, fostering connection, and strengthening emotional well-being,” said Elle Davis, Founder of The Ellevate Group, LLC. “Through this session, my goal was to remind both parents and providers that when we allow space for creativity and heart work, we give children the resources they need to thrive socially and emotionally.”
Participant feedback reflected the impact of the session. One attendee shared, “I loved how I got to feel my inner child. It reminded me how much I love doing crafts and how I should prioritize doing things for myself that I enjoy.” Another remarked, “I loved how we participated in play.”
The session was part of a larger summit that drew more than 150 attendees, bringing together parents and providers from across the region. Hosted annually by Illinois Action for Children, the event is a platform to address pressing social issues that directly affect the emotional well-being of children and families. Each year, the summit equips attendees with current research, tools, and resources that can be applied immediately in classrooms, childcare settings, and homes.
